Ghostly boating mysteries

We all love a good mystery. Add the words “ghost ship” to “mysteries” and most of us will be rivetted already.

The Mary Celeste is a ship with a mystery, and perhaps one of the most well-known of those ghost ships. But there are plenty others … a schooner, a freighter, a yacht, and a merchant ship, for example.  Add to that a mummified body, certainly many missing crew members and surmising around a kidnap involving a Soviet submarine, pirates, and mutinies and you have the makings of many a wonderful tale. 

Most of these seafaring misadventures detailed in this Readers' Digest article have never been solved. In some cases, they remain a mystery centuries on, and the ghostly aspect continues to thrill.
