To enter, participants simply photograph their catch on an official Export NZ Fishing Competition measure and submit it online. This approach supports sustainable fishing while providing anglers with the flexibility to enjoy their catch their way. The competition’s annual leaderboards recognise record-breaking fish lengths across multiple species, celebrating New Zealand’s best anglers.
How to Enter and Compete

- Catch and Measure – Fish anywhere in New Zealand waters, at any time, and use an official measure to document your catch.

Eligible Species and Leaderboards
Eligible fish species include popular New Zealand catches like snapper, kingfish, kahawai, trevally, red gurnard, tarakihi, john dory, and blue cod. All entries are verified based on length, not weight, so participants don’t need a weigh station - just an official measure.
