The Export NZ Fishing Competition

Mariner Proudly Sponsors the Export NZ Fishing Competition

October 2024

Mariner Insurance is proud to announce our new partnership with the Export NZ Fishing Competition, supporting New Zealand’s premier catch-and-release fishing event for the 2024-2025 season. This competition blends a passion for angling with sustainable practices and offers exciting new prizes and opportunities for fishermen across the country.

A Sustainable Competition for Every Angler

The Export NZ Fishing Competition encourages anglers to either release their catch or keep it for personal use, as preferred. To enter, participants simply photograph their catch on an official Export NZ Fishing Competition measure and submit it online. This approach supports sustainable fishing while providing anglers with the flexibility to enjoy their catch their way. The competition’s annual leaderboards recognise record-breaking fish lengths across multiple species, celebrating New Zealand’s best anglers.

How to Enter and Compete

Entering the competition is simple and free! Here’s what you need to get started:

  1. Register Online – Head to the registration page and use the code Export to unlock free entry for the season.
  2. Catch and Measure – Fish anywhere in New Zealand waters, at any time, and use an official measure to document your catch.
  3. Upload and Compete – Submit your photo of the catch to enter leaderboards, earn recognition, and potentially win prizes.

For detailed instructions, visit the FAQs section on the competition website.

Eligible Species and Leaderboards

Eligible fish species include popular New Zealand catches like snapper, kingfish, kahawai, trevally, red gurnard, tarakihi, john dory, and blue cod. All entries are verified based on length, not weight, so participants don’t need a weigh station - just an official measure.
